Archery Club

The American Archery Academy offers professional archery instruction and specializes in youth programing. Our team of certified coaches, including former national champion and Olympians, has decades of instructional experience. We offer unparalleled coaching in a safe, fun, and friendly environment for scholars to learn the wonderful sport of Olympic Archery! All equipment provided — No Experience Required.

Participation Fee: $280.00 per semester (14 classes)

Art Club

Cicero Art Club will build on the curriculum of our Studio art classes. Scholars will be provided additional time and instruction to grow their creative abilities and practice techniques. Participants will create art through a variety of mediums and will conclude the year with a showing of their art, open to the academy, faculty, parents and guests. If possible, we will also have a showing in a public space.

Choir Club

The phrase “preaching to the choir” connotes that those in the choir are well informed and “in the know.” Join this upper echelon! Cicero Prep’s extra-curricular choir is open to students of any level of experience or ability, and gives participants an opportunity to experience, appreciate, and perform beautiful music while growing in technical and artistic skill. The semester’s work will culminate in a performance at the end-of-term Prep concert.

Creative Writing Club

Students will learn poetic and narrative terms and how to critique/write good, true, and beautiful stories and poems.

Drum Club

SH Music Drum Club is an extracurricular program designed to create a fun and engaging group environment to learn percussion. Students will work on basic drumming technique and music theory as it applies to rudimental marching percussion. After a full semester of drum club, the students will be able to perform on rudimental percussion instruments in an ensemble format as well as have developed techniques used in all styles of drumming and musical performance. No experience required!

Hiking Club

Hiking club—also known as “Bachs on Rocks”—gives participants a chance to experience the rewards of completing challenging hikes in beautiful locations. There is a decidedly social nature to the club, as students create close bonds while hiking with their peers. During meetings, participants will learn about the locations in which we hike, hiking safety tips and tricks, and engage in discussions about the nature of beauty. We go on at least three hikes and one weekend-long camping trip each semester.

Homework Club

This is a place for you Prep student to complete homework, receive peer tutoring and quietly socialize with friends in a structured, supervised environment. The program runs every school day from directly after school until 5:30PM, excluding early release days, vacations and holidays when school is not in session.

Knitting Club

The knitting club will teach the timeless craft of knitting for the purpose of engaging students in the act of culture and charity. Once students have become proficient in their craft, we will work towards making items to donate to children in need (i.e. knit together small squares to make blankets, hats, etc.)

Strings Club

The Cicero Strings Orchestra will expand upon musical concepts, both theoretical and performance based, to which students have been exposed in middle school music classes. Middle school students will be challenged to think more deeply about the musicality exhibited while playing music with others. They will also learn about well-established composers and will be asked to listen for what is being said by each composer in his music. In addition, students will learn performance and posture techniques that will make them more proficient with their respective instruments. Finally, students will learn how to perform for an audience with increased comfort and a sense of joy.

This club will focus on writing, design, and providing a historical record of the school focused on its students, staff and activities. This will be a chance to document historical events and help to create lasting memories for years to come!
